Feeling good starts with being comfortable.

By J. Jukuri Spa & Salon

Massage therapy is soothing and relaxing for the mind body and spirit.  scheduling your first massage can feel intimidating, but doesn’t have to be.  Let us help you get the most our of your first massage therapy experience.

Massage therapy is therapeutic service offered by a licensed professional.  It is and always should be experienced in a safe and healthy environment. This begins from the time you walk in the door to receiving therapy on the massage table to walking out the door.

Here are J. Jukuri Spa & Salon, we intend to make your experience a relaxing and therapeutic one.  This begins with getting to know you and what your body needs are. Each of our therapist are trained in multiple massage modalities and several are trained in very specific types of massage therapy.  Our goal is to set you up with a massage therapist or two, to help you achieve your wellness goals.

Now, booking a massage might make you feel a bit nervous – Will the massage therapist be a man or a woman? Will I need to fully disrobe? What should you do if you feel uncomfortable? These questions come up often and we can help you find the answers.

A common misconception is that massage is a one-size-fits-all therapy. Many people don’t understand that it’s supposed to be an extremely customizable and personalized experience, based on individual needs and comfort level.

So, what should you expect during your first massage session—and how can you make sure the experience is as enjoyable as possible?

The Service experience

To ensure you are choosing the right service, you may be asked a series of questions like; have you received a massage before?  What type of pressure do you prefer?  This helps us as we book you for a massage to fit your needs.

Upon arrival for your service, we ask that you arrive 10-15 min in advance for you first massage therapy appointment.  You will be filling out a health form that further guides your massage therapist for the type of therapy that’s best suited for your needs. A short consultation will happen in the room to walk through your health form, give instruction on how to get ready for your massage and answer any questions or requests you might have.

Your massage therapist will step out of the room to wash their hands, while you get ready for the massage. You will disrobe to your comfort level and get comfortable under the sheet and blanket. You will be covered/draped during the entire session, outside of the areas to be worked on.  You might notice a quiet, dimly lit space with relaxing massage music playing. During your massage session, communication about pressure and comfort will occur between you and your massage therapist. Lotion or oil, essential oils (upon request) will be used on the areas you have requested in the consultation.  Communicate with your therapist if you have any discomfort during your massage.

Once session is complete, the massage therapist will leave the room for you to slowly get up and get dressed in private.  After the massage, feedback is always welcome for your massage therapist. This helps them customize the right wellness plan for you.  The benefits of massage therapy are cumulative, so work with your massage therapist to customize a plan to meet your health and wellness goals. Upon checkout, tips are appreciated to recognize outstanding service, but not required.
